Renovation Saga July 18 2010, 0 Comments

This how the ceiling looked when they started taking it down. Quite the mess. But we are making progress and it time to pick the colours.

I used nature for part of my colour inspiration. Because I live in the country I wanted to bring the outdoors in.

Some time ago I was introduced to the perennial plant Alchemilla Mollis (Lady's Mantle) I used the flowers of the plant as my inspiration. This plan always looks fresh and clean even in the heat it always looks fresh!

I love it early in the spring when the dew is fresh on the serrated leaves.

If you are doubt in about your colour choices, from the colour chip you can purchase samples pots of paint.  Look at the sample in different light levels .

Painting takes a lot of energy, even if you are doing it yourself and will take a big chunk out of budget if you hire a professional.

Sometimes it is less expensive to hire a professional to put you in the right direction and avoid costly mistakes.

My colour choice for the living room is #206 Green Ground from Farrow & Ball.

This green is neutral, I think it is soft and beautiful, it does not dictate you can put anything with it.

My ceiling was white Cloud White from Benjamin Moore, because we changed the shape a little and made it wider and flatter making it look larger. To minimize the size I chose Phantom from Pratt & Lambert 11-31. It makes it a bit cozier.

I am also re-thinking the trim colour, right now it is Cloud White.
